Statistics Calculator

Compute count, sum, mean, median, mode, quartiles, range, variance, and standard deviation for a data set.

Quick guide

Paste or type a data set to compute count, sum, mean, median, mode, quartiles, range, variance, and standard deviation. Standard deviation is shown in both its sample (n−1) and population (n) forms.

How It Works

Descriptive statistics summarize a data set: central tendency (mean, median, mode) and spread (range, quartiles, variance, standard deviation). Sample deviation divides by n−1; population by n.

Formula Used

σ = √( Σ(x − μ)² ÷ n ); s = √( Σ(x − x̄)² ÷ (n − 1) ).

Example Calculation

For 12, 15, 12, 18, 21, 15, 17: mean ≈ 15.71, median 15, sample std. dev. ≈ 3.40.

Practical Use Cases

  • Summarize survey or experiment results.
  • Compare consistency with standard deviation.
  • Find quartiles for box plots.
