Average Calculator

Calculate the mean, median, mode, range, sum, and count of any list of numbers.

Quick guide

Paste or type a list of numbers separated by commas or spaces. The calculator returns the mean, median, mode, range, sum, and count, which together describe the center and spread of your data.

How It Works

The mean sums all values and divides by the count; the median is the middle value; the mode is the most frequent. Together they describe a data set’s center and spread.

Formula Used

Mean = (x₁ + x₂ + … + xₙ) ÷ n; median = middle of sorted values; range = max − min.

Example Calculation

For 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42: mean = 18, median = 15.5, range = 38, sum = 108.

Practical Use Cases

  • Average grades, scores, or expenses.
  • Compare mean vs. median for skewed data.
  • Summarize any quick list of numbers.
