BMR Calculator
Calculate your basal metabolic rate — the calories your body burns at complete rest — with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation.
Quick guide
Enter your sex, age, height, and weight to estimate your basal metabolic rate: the calories your body uses at complete rest. It uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation and is a starting point for planning daily energy needs.
Read the full explanationHow It Works
BMR is the energy needed to keep you alive at rest — breathing, circulation, temperature, cell repair. It accounts for the majority of most people’s daily burn.
Formula Used
Men: BMR = 10·kg + 6.25·cm − 5·age + 5. Women: BMR = 10·kg + 6.25·cm − 5·age − 161.
Example Calculation
A 30-year-old woman at 165 cm and 60 kg has a BMR of about 1,320 kcal per day.
Practical Use Cases
- Understand your baseline metabolism.
- Build calorie targets on top of BMR with an activity factor.
- Compare how age and weight change resting burn.
